Since CBD was legalized in Switzerland in 2016, the range of CBD products available for sale has been constantly growing. In this article cbuy.ch explains the product segment “CBD Topicals”.

CBD Topicals and how they work
Topical products are products that are not swallowed or injected, but are applied directly to the affected area on the skin surface. These include oils, body lotions, hand creams, skin creams or ointments. CBD Topicals are exactly such products – but their formulation additionally contains the ingredient CBD.

Cannabinoids are absorbed by humans and animals via the body’s own endocannabinoid system. If topical CBD products are used, CBD is absorbed through the pores in the skin, where it interacts with the endocannabinoid system and can have a supporting and beneficial effect.

How to use CBD Topicals
CBD oils, body lotions, creams or ointments should be applied as follows:

  1. To determine where the topical CBD product should be applied, the first step is to locate the source of your complaint.
  2. Then clean the affected area, because you are exposed to various bacteria, viruses and other pathogens on a daily basis. You do not have to take a shower before applying CBD Topical. It is sufficient to wash your hands thoroughly and clean the affected skin area thoroughly with a wet towel or washcloth.
  3. It is common to apply hand creams, skin creams and oils in several layers. Therefore, massage the CBD product thoroughly into the skin. Then wait a few minutes and repeat this procedure a second time.
  4. Wash your hands well after application. Most CBD Topicals contain additional ingredients, for example coconut oil. Such components are helpful in caring for the body, moisturizing and strengthening the skin structure. However, if they get into the eyes or nose, they can be uncomfortable for a short time, so washing your hands is highly recommended.

CBD Topicals in science
Currently, the cannabinoid CBD and topical CBD products are the subject of various investigations and studies. Many consumers report of the successful effect of CBD in fighting skin diseases such as psoriasis, neurodermatitis or acne. Furthermore, first US studies have concluded that CBD may have the potential to provide pain relief in joint diseases such as arthritis.

Very briefly:
CBD Topicals are specifically applied to a specific area of the skin. They are available in different forms – among others as body lotions, oils or hand creams. First studies and consumer reports have shown that they can be effective for various skin diseases or joint disorders.
